Hi, I’m Nick — AKA The Urban Rambler! I’m a heritage interpreter, researcher and City of London Guide with over a decade of experience helping people connect with the stories that make our cities, sites and landscapes so endlessly fascinating — from London’s backstreets to castles, palaces and historic places across the UK and beyond.

I spent more than ten years at English Heritage, creating exhibitions, tours and on-site experiences for historic sites around the country, including Stonehenge, Whitby Abbey, Osborne House, Tintagel Castle and Battle of Hastings Abbey and Battlefield. During that time, I led work to bring England’s queer history into the spotlight. That experience taught me how to make complex histories engaging and accessible — combining solid research with creativity, and a light personable touch.

Now working independently, I design and deliver walks, talks and experiences for organisations including English Heritage, the London Museum, the Bishopsgate Institute and Sotheby’s. My work draws on years of professional heritage practice, ensuring every story is well researched, thoughtfully interpreted and shared with warmth, clarity and a sense of humour.

Whether I’m uncovering queer histories across the UK and beyond, tracing London’s lost rivers, or exploring the hidden corners of our cities, I love helping people see the familiar with fresh eyes — and maybe fall a little more in love with the world around them.
